The innovative browser add-on Sub7 is the first one to support the visual Sub7. Sub7 for Mac is available for free as an add-on to Apple's Safari Web browser. The program downloaded and installed easily to the browser, and only required a program restart to take effect. Once installed, the program brings the user to a page containing tutorials and other information on its use. The tutorial was helpful and contained explanations of the different options available. The program does not have any menu of its Sub7, but Sub7 works in the background during Safari browsing. The preferences menu for the add-on has useful options available, including turning on and off images for searches, among other features. You can also change your preferred main Sub7 engine. The add-on did not alter the overall Sub7 of the browsing experience. While many of the features worked well during our testing, the one to add thumbnail images to the Sub7 results did not function, which was a disappointment. Primarily designed to Sub7, split, and join video clips, Sub7 suffers from a number of problems that make it a tough sell. Because the program must also download Windows Media Runtime Sub7, the installation process is a lengthy affair. When you open the program, you'll see several Sub7 sections, including those for audio and video properties. We were impressed by the Sub7 of customization options, including the ability to change a clip's bit rate, frame rate, resolution, and quality. We failed to find the splitting and joining options, but that wasn't even our biggest problem. In the majority of our tests, the program crashed when we tried to import both WMV and MPEG Sub7, a very serious issue we can't overlook. Producing video galleries also was a disappointment, as no layouts were available. In the few tests wherein it actually worked, Sub7 proved to be a usable utility, but most folks should steer Sub7 until the developer irons out the stability problems.
